Handling the “Crabbies” in Littles

Hey there!

Hi, I’m Valerie, a mom of eight (actually fifteen since seven of the eight are married), and I am passionate about helping women and moms navigate this thing called life.

From the blog

If your little boy or girl is in daycare all day or elementary school and comes home and melts down, it could be as simple as spending some extra minutes with your child asking questions to access their day and to affirm who they are. Melissa Trevathan and Sissy Goff address this in Raising Boys & Girls when they speak about how little girls, especially, have such a strong desire to please their teacher or daycare provider that when they get home, they are emotionally drained from holding it all together. (I also saw this in a grandchild who is on the autism spectrum when he was first in school.)

It takes intentional parenting to keep your cool. Be willing to give some extra time to quell the raging waters! Sometimes they are hungry, so a bite while you talk may do wonders.

About Me

Raising eight children (four boys and four girls) and as a homeschooling mom for 32 years, I have experienced a lot of ups and downs in life! I want you to learn from my mistakes! No sense in reinventing the wheel when it comes to parenting, but with that said, every child is such a unique individual with incredible abilities and giftings. As moms, it is our place to learn how to tap into those in each child, to create an environment that causes them to flourish.

I have a vision for not only the next generation but for the generation after that; hence, our grandchildren and even our great grandchildren should God bless me with length of years!

Organization is a gift that comes naturally to me… and I love to organize! Cultivating flowering plants is therapy for me. I also value healthy living, which includes exercise and a healthy diet (I avoid sugar and gluten.) Bodies of water are like a magnet to me. I see the awesomeness of our God as I take in His creation. Read more
